Rosa Cecilia
London-born and based artist Rosa Cecilia showcases her ability to wrap fusion sound - referencing jazz, RnB, Latin sound and neosoul - in a commercial space. Her lyrics encompass various socio-political topics from queer love (Passers-By) and surpressed lust within religion (Wade in the Fire - 100k streams) to celebration of post-colonial culture (Gold Chains - 200k streams) and claiming sensuality outside of patriarchal pressures (La Rosa). Despite more serious lyrical tones, Rosa’s art is brought to celebratory life with trumpet and guitar parts beautifully decorating Rosa’s infectious and danceable hooks. Her music is both feel-good and introspective. References would be Kali Uchis meets Jorja Smith.
Rosa’s soulful lyrics and consistent live performances have led to the up-and-coming singer playing shows at Lafayette supporting Marina Sena, Camden’s Jazz Café and sold out headlines at Peckham Audio and Movimientos Presents at Brixton’s Hootananny as well as performing at Latino Life 2022 – the UK’s biggest event and music festival showcasing Latin music and culture. She has also featured in British Vogue, WordPlay Mag, the Pit, Fourth Floor, EXT Radio, iHeartRadio MixCloud and Subtle Radio among others.
